Benefits of Membership
Membership in NAGAP provides an opportunity to network with professional colleagues at all sizes and types of institutions: large and small, public and private, secular and non-secular.
The annual conference, electronic mailing list (listserve), professional development institutes, membership directory, and Perspectives, all help facilitate communication among members.
Annual Conference
Scheduled each spring, this three-day conference brings new and experienced members from across the country together with leading professionals in the fields of graduate admissions and graduate education. The annual conference encourages professional excellence, facilitates networking among the membership, provides both practical and problem solving sessions, and helps to define the future direction of graduate admissions. Session topics often include marketing/recruiting strategies, technological innovations, demographic change, legal issues, and best practices in graduate admissions. The host city changes each year to permit members a greater opportunity to attend a national conference.
Graduate Fairs Calendar
The Graduate Fairs Calendar is an invaluable source of recruitment information for members of NAGAP. The only compilation of its kind, the calendar is available at the NAGAP web site to all active members, and lists graduate school fairs chronologically and geographically.
NAGAP Instant Forum
The employment opportunities board provides members and those with an interest in graduate admissions/education issues a timely forum to share ideas and observations about the day-to-day activities affecting the profession. NAGAP provides a comprehensive list of employment opportunities available for gaduate professionals. Members and non-members may post open positions, but only current members may view the listings.
Professional Development Institutes
NAGAP's professional development institutes provide opportunities for members to learn and grow in the area of graduate admissions. NAGAP currently offers three levels of professional development institutes. The first is for new graduate admission professionals. The second is an advanced level institute designed for professionals who have been in graduate admissions for more than three years. The third, an executive level institute, focuses in-depth on topics relevant to deans, directors and administrators who are responsible for graduate admissions.
NAGAP Perspectives
Published quarterly, Perspectives provides members with timely and professional information and the opportunity to share their views in print on a variety of topics. Issues regularly contain articles on current events in the field of law, government, research and education that impact graduate students and graduate admissions professionals.
NAGAP E-Newsletter
The electronic newsletter contains up-to-the-minute news and information. There are also regular features on upcoming events and job openings in graduate admissions.
Research and National Issues
NAGAP's Research and National Issues Committee conducts and sponsors research in a continuing effort to provide relevant comparative data on both professionally related activities and graduate school policies and requirements. Recent studies that have been shared with members focused on such areas as job responsibilities and salaries, the use of the Internet in graduate admissions, and best practices in graduate admissions. This committee also provides articles and studies about current national issues and concerns related to recruitment and admission, enrollment trends, legislative initiatives, and regional, state, and local activities.

The online directory is an important tool for networking and information sharing among members.
Membership Categories
Institutional Membership
Annual dues: $200 for each member within a specific institution and open to all accredited educational institutions granting graduate degrees. This membership allows the institution to transfer a membership to another staff member within the institution. Institutional members have voting privileges.
Individual Membership
Annual dues: $150 per member and available to graduate education professionals at accredited educational institutions granting graduate degrees. This membership allows an individual to retain the membership and the institution cannot transfer the membership to another person. Individual members have voting privileges.
Affiliate Membership
Annual dues: $150 per member and open to individuals from agencies or organizations that assist or benefit NAGAP and the graduate admissions community. Each agency or organization will have a designated contact. Affiliate members do not have voting privileges, but these memberships are transferable.
Retired Membership
Annual dues: $50 per member. With the approval of the NAGAP Governing Board, individuals who have worked in graduate admissions, served the Association, and are in retired status are eligible for join as a retired member. Retired members do not have voting privileges and the membership cannot be transferred.
Membership Period
The membership year is July 1st through June 30th regardless of the date of payment (e.g., if membership dues are paid in the spring, renewal is still due by July 1st). To remain a member and continue NAGAP benefits throughout the year, renewal payments should be sent by July 1st.
How To Join NAGAP
NEW Members: You may join NAGAP online or if you prefer, you may download the 2008- 2009 Membership Application and submit it to the NAGAP Executive Office. By choosing the 2008- 2009 Membership Application, your membership will take effect on July 1, 2008. If you join today, you may take advantage of member rates for our upcoming educational events.
CURRENT Members: You may pay your NAGAP membership dues online or if you prefer, you may contact the NAGAP Executive Office for a hardcopy invoice.
RENEWING Members: The online renewal system is currently open. To renew your NAGAP membership, You may pay your NAGAP membership dues online or please return 2008- 2009 Renewal Form to the Executive Office.
