Description:
Come learn the basics of gender identity, gender expression, and pronoun usage for all genders. Whether talking with friends, supporting students, or creating professional communications, it’s important to understand the need and usage of correct pronouns and titles. This 50 minute session will include a brief discussion of pronouns and a simple exercise practicing them in a welcoming environment.
Matthew Beld (they/them/theirs) is an epidemiologist in the UCSF School of Nursing and program manager for the UCSF Center for Sexual & Gender Minority Health. They have collaborated on several studies including work with dementia, inclusive care, and housing for LGBTQ older adults, as well as work with the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health and the Alliance Health Project. They also provide trainings for gender identity and pronoun usage in educational, clinical, and research spaces. They received an MPH from the University of California, Berkeley.
